As a Metro Council member, Kumar Rashad will continue his focus on equity and racial justice. Kumar previously served as a Metro Council member. His volunteer work includes serving as a group home board member and spearheading work with teachers working toward their certifications. He is a community builder through his involvement in diverse religious and secular groups. Kumar has taught for over 20 years and is a longtime leader in JCPS. He’s currently the Vice President of the Jefferson County Teachers Association. He was awarded Kentucky High School Teacher of the Year in 2024
